Thailand’s ROC to shut cracker for maintenance in 2010

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Rayong Olefins (ROC) plans to shut its 800,000 tonne/year cracker - Thailand's largest naphtha cracker - in the fourth quarter of 2010 for scheduled maintenance, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The specific shutdown date has yet to be finalised, the source added.

ROC also plans to take the cracker off line this week for 15 days of repairs.

Compressor issues had forced the firm to reduce the cracker operating rate to 90% from 100% since mid October, the source said.

ROC is a joint venture between Siam Cement and US chemical giant Dow Chemicals.
