BRUSSELS (ICIS news)--The European Commission has requested the establishment of a World Trade Organisation (WTO) dispute panel to look at Chinese export restrictions on a number of raw materials that are key to the chemical industry, the EU executive body confirmed on Thursday.
The Commission said it considered the restrictions to be “in clear breach of international trade rules” and that it has been unsuccessful in trying to settle the issue through formal WTO consultations.

“I regret that the formal consultation process and significant EU engagement on this issue has not led to an amicable solution which would have been our preferred course of action,” she added.
