SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China’s Qinghai Soda Ash Co Ltd plans to start up its 1m tonne/year soda ash plant at Delingha Industry Park in Qinghai province in the second quarter of next year, a company official said on Wednesday.

Conditions in the soda ash market has improved, in line with China's economic recovery, giving the company confidence to boost production, the official said.

"This is our second soda ash project at the same site. Another 1m tonne/year plant had already started operation in end June this year," he said.

The plant is currently under construction, the source said.

Soda ash is used to make float glass for construction and consumer goods such as glass bottles and detergent.
