TORONTO (ICIS news)--NOVA Chemicals on Wednesday announced its new board, including the appointment OMV deputy chief executive Gerhard Roiss as new board chairman.

The appointments reflect the role Austria-based petrochemicals majors OMV and Borealis will have in steering NOVA following NOVA’s acquisition by Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Corporation (IPIC) earlier this year.

In addition to Roiss, NOVA’s board includes Mohamed Al Mehairi from IPIC;  David Davies, chief financial officer of OMV; Mark Garrett, chief executive of Borealis; Randy Woelfel, who will take over as NOVA chief executive on 16 November; Georg Thoma from law firm Shearman Sterling LLP; and Philip Brown from law firm Torys LLP.

NOVA also said that Todd Karran would assume his new role as NOVA chief financial officer and treasurer on 16 November.
