SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thailand’s PTT Chemical will decide by the end of next week when to start commercial production at its new 400,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant at Mab Ta Phut, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
The plant had been undergoing trial production since late October, the source added.
The other LLDPE facilities in Thailand are Siam Polyethylene’s 300,000 tonne/year plant and a 120,000 tonne/year plant operated by Thai Polyethylene.
Siam Polyethylene is a 50:50 joint venture between SCG Chemicals Co and Dow, while Thai Polyethylene is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SCG Chemicals.
