US IBA exports drop by 11% year over year

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US exports of isobutanol (IBA) in September totalled 2,203 tonnes, down by 11% from 2,480 tonnes during the same month last year, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said on Friday.

Exports in September were 18% less than the 2,694 tonnes exported in August.

From January through September, US IBA exports were 21,656 tonnes, a drop of 59% when compared with the same period in 2008.

China was the top export destination, accounting for a collective 1,500 tonnes - or 68% of total shipments, the ITC said.

US IBA producers include BASF, Eastman, Oxea and Dow Chemical.
