SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Saudi Arabia’s Al-Waha Petrochemical plans to restart its 450,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant in Al Jubail by 7 December after an outage, sources close to the company said on Monday.
"The plant was shut down two days ago to conduct repairs on its extruder," one of the sources said.
Traders said that the shutdown was expected to tighten PP supply in the Middle East.
"Fortunately, though, demand is not very strong right now due to the Eid holidays starting next week, so the impact will not be very severe," a trader said.
The Al Jubail plant is the world’s largest PP unit to use LyondellBasell’s Spherizone technology.
Al-Waha is a 75:25 joint venture between Sahara Petrochemical Co and LyondellBasell.
