LONDON (ICIS news)--Teijin Chemicals is to establish a new business unit as part of its plan to further expand into the automotive market with its polycarbonate resin and other advanced material products, the Japanese chemical producer said on Tuesday.

“The unit will centralise planning, marketing and related functions, including the development of materials and processing technologies conducted at Teijin Chemicals’ Plastics Technical Center in Chiba prefecture,” the company said in a statement.

“The unit will oversee development of surface-processing technologies, next-generation materials technologies and other technologies for the practical application of automotive windows and other components made with polycarbonate resin,” it added.

Teijin said that it expected to accelerate expansion into the automotive market by developing innovative solutions and applications for its Panlite polycarbonate resin and other advanced materials.
