SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Indorama Petrochemical plans to shut its 700,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Mab Ta Phut, Thailand next week for repairs, a senior company official said on Thursday.
The PTA unit was restarted on Wednesday after an unscheduled three-day shutdown, the official added.
"We have experienced some technical problems, and we had shut the plant on Sunday and restarted it yesterday (Wednesday)," the official said.
The plant, which is currently running at 80-90%, would be shut again for five to six days to facilitate additional repair works, the official added.
Close to 25% of the plant's production this month would be lost due to the unscheduled shutdowns, limiting the available spot PTA volumes from Indorama, the official said.
