HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Formosa on Wednesday began the restart of its Point Comfort 2 olefins unit in Texas, which was taken offline just over one week ago for routine maintenance.
Emissions associated with the procedure were expected to last through 11 December, the company said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Point Comfort 2 has 816,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.
Formosa has another cracker at the site, Point Comfort 1, which is offline due to an unplanned outage late on 4 December.
The 680,000 tonne/year unit is expected to restart at around 18 December, market sources said.
