India's Haldia Petchem complex to restart by third week of Jan

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--India's Haldia Petrochemicals is on track to resume operations by the third week of January, following a planned shutdown to upgrade its 520,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker and polymer plants, an industry source said on Monday.

The complex in West Bengal state, which was shut on 19 October for maintenance and expansion over 10 weeks, will see its cracker’s capacity increase by 30% to 670,000 tonnes/year.

Haldia's polyethylene (PE) capacity will be increased to around 700,000 tonnes/year from 550,000 tonnes/year, while the capacity of its polypropylene (PP) plant will be expanded to 370,000 tonnes/year from 211,000 tonne/year.
