S Korea LG chem to export propylene after cracker expansion

SEOUL (ICIS news)--South Korea’s LG Chem plans to export propylene (C3) cargoes after completion of expansion work at its 900,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at Yeosu this year, a company official said on Monday.

The cracker would produce 500,000 tonnes/year of propylene after expansion, the source said.

"We usually export six to eight cargoes per month but after the revamp, we will have two to four more lots for exports," the source said.

Each cargo was around 1,500 metric tonnes, the source said.

The producer would have term contracts with traders and the surplus would be exported on spot basis, the source said.
