Hydrogen sulphide leak at Texas natgas-processing plant kills one

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A hydrogen sulphide leak over the weekend at an Enbridge natural gas-processing plant in northeast Texas resulted in the death of one worker and left another in intensive care, a company spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at about 19:45 hours (01:45 GMT) Saturday night at the company’s plant near Bryans Mill, Texas, about 135 miles northeast of Dallas, said Enbridge spokeswoman Terri Larson.

Larson said it was too early to know the cause of the leak or the extent, adding that US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorities were on site investigating the incident.

Nalvester Maxie, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enbridge is a Canadian company that specialises in energy transportation, distribution and services, according to its website.
