MOVES: Cereplast CEO to head SPI’s bioplastics council

TORONTO (ICIS news)--Cereplast chief executive Frederic Scheer will chair the Society of the Plastics Industry's (SPI) bioplastics council this year, the US-based producer of bioplastics said on Wednesday.

The SPI’s Bioplastics Council focuses on the development of bioplastics as an integral part of the plastics industry, it said.

Among Scheer’s priorities as chair of the council would be to seek closer ties with the US Department of Agriculture and with other groups in the sector, including European Bioplastics, the company said.

The SPI is a trade association for US plastics producers, the country’s third largest manufacturing industry.
