SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Keiyo Ethylene is on track to shut its 740,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker in Ichihara, Chiba prefecture, for a turnaround in May 2010, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
“The cracker is expected to be shut on 11 May and to restart on 18 June,” he said, adding that the facility was running at 100% of capacity.
A heavy cracker turnaround schedule in Asia this year was expected to keep ethylene prices firm especially in the first half of this year, market sources said.
