SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thailand’s PTT Chemical is planning to start up its new 1m tonne/year ethane cracker in Mab Ta Phut by 26 January after a failed attempt last week, a company official said on Thursday.
The company was unable to start up the cracker as scheduled in early January due partly to mechanical issues, market sources said.
PTT would still take one of its existing three crackers at the same site off line for routine maintenance after the new facility comes on stream. The 460,000 tonne/year unit, also known as the I-1 cracker, would likely be shut in February, the company source said.
