PRAGUE (ICIS news)--Sales of biofuel components in Poland rose 38.6% to 395,700 tonnes in the first three quarters of 2009 compared with the same period of 2008, the Polish Energy Regulatory Office (URE) said on Thursday.

The URE said it collected data from 48 companies involved in the manufacturing, storage and marketing of biofuel components in Poland.

The increase was driven by EU legal requirements pushing a gradual increase in the amount of diesel and petrol that member countries must replace with components, said URE.
