HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US specialty chemical producer Chemtura will source three brominated flame retardants from Albemarle, part of a series of bromide deals, the companies said on Thursday.
Chemtura will source the brominated flame retardants BA-59P, DE-83R and Firemaster 2100 - as well as n-propyl bromide and sodium bromide - from Ablemarle, the companies said.
Chemtura currently produces the flame retardants and the bromides. The companies did not elaborate on the sourcing agreement.
In addition, Albemarle is assigning to Chemtura its brine interests in Chemtura's West Brine production unit in Union County, Arkansas, the companies said.
Also, the two companies settled their litigation concerning Chemtura's right to sell decabromodiphenyl ethane worldwide.
Under the settlement agreement, each company will grant a cross license for their respective decabromodiphenyl ethane products.
The settlement is pending approval in bankruptcy court. Chemtura filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 in early 2009.
