SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Malaysia’s BASF-Petronas plans to shut its 160,000 tonne/year crude acrylic acid (CAA) plant in mid-February for scheduled turnaround, market sources said on Tuesday.

The acrylates plant located in Kuantan would be shut for a period of 3 to 4 weeks, market sources said.

The acrylates facility produces 75,000 tonnes/year of glacial acrylic acid (GAA), 100,000 tonnes/year of butyl acrylate (BA) and 60,000 tonnes/year of 2-ethyl hexanol acrylate (2EH-A).

Other acrylates producers in the region include Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics, South Korea’s LG Chem and Japan’s Nippon Shokubai.
