SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPC) restarted its 520,000 tonne/year group II base oils refinery in Mailiao on 25 January, said a company source on Tuesday.

The refinery had been shut in late December due to mechanical issues.

“We expect to have adequate spot volumes for February,” said the source.

The refinery - the newest base oils producer in Asia - commenced operations in September 2009.

Production from the refinery has been exported to Asian markets like China, India and southeast Asia.
