SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japanese producer Nippon Shokubai is planning to shut down its 35,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) unit located at Himeiji, Hyogo Prefecture in April for a month-long turnaround, a company source said on Thursday.

“We have sufficient inventory. There will be no impact on spot availability,” he added.

The plant is expected to resume its operation by the end of April.

Other MA producers in the region include South Korea’s Yongsan Chemicals, Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical and Taiwan’s UPC Technology.
