Bayer MaterialScience upbeat on China growth in 2010

SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Bayer MaterialScience expects its China business to grow by more than 9% in 2010, said Michael Koenig, chairman of Bayer China, late on Thursday.

“If the GDP grows at 9% as economists expect, our growth will be above that,” he said.

Bayer MaterialScience has successfully consolidated its four entities in China, he added. Bayer MaterialScience (China) Company now incorporates Bayer Coating System Shanghai, Bayer Polymers (Shanghai), Bayer Polyurethanes (Shanghai) and Bayer MaterialScience Trading (Shanghai).

The four entities achieved a combined turnover of €800m ($1.13bn) in 2009, Koenig said.
