LONDON (ICIS news)--An initial February European toluene settlement has been agreed at $880/tonne (€634/tonne), up $10-25/tonne from the previous month, a buyer and a seller said on Friday.

“It was a big discussion again this month,” said the buyer involved, adding that the lack of trades in recent weeks made it difficult to judge where the market was.

The buyer added: “I guess the market is a little tighter, but I don’t see it getting any worse in February. Supply is there, but not in abundance, while demand is OK.”

The contract was agreed on a free on board (FOB) northwest Europe (NWE) basis. Confirmation from other players was pending.
