LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS Technologies has been selected as the licensor for India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) Petro-additions Ltd’s (OPaL) linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high density PE (HDPE) project in Dahej, INEOS said on Tuesday.

OPaL has been working on starting commercial production at its 1.1m tonne/year cracker and derivatives complex in Dahej special economic zone of petroleum, chemical and petrochemical investment region (PCPIR) in the State of Gujarat, India, by December 2012.

Units downstream of the cracker include a 1.08m tonne/year HDPE and LLDPE plant, a 360,000tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant, a 95,000tonne/year butadiene unit, a 135,000tonne/year benzene line and a 34,000tonne/year butene 1 plant.

"We look forward to working with OPaL to deliver a state of the art polyolefins facility by the end of 2012,” said Peter Williams, CEO of INEOS Technologies.

“The selection of INEOS Technologies for these plants was the result of an exhaustive examination of competing technologies. OPaL is confident that this process selection will provide us with products to serve customers both in domestic and global markets,” said OPaL CEO P Johri.
