HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US imports of refined glycerine in December were 4,887 tonnes, down 47% from 9,294 tonnes in November, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said on Wednesday.
December imports were down 17% from 5,910 tonnes in December 2008.
For all of 2009, US imports of refined glycerine were down 32% to 73,057 tonnes.
Malaysia was the top supplier for all of 2009 with 43,104 tonnes or 59% of the total, despite a 23% drop in shipments compared with 2008.
Indonesia was ranked second for 2009 with 13,425 tonnes, down 16% from 2008.
Major US glycerine buyers include Carpenter, Colgate-Palmolive and Bayer.
