TORONTO (ICIS news)--Air Products has won a contract to supply a nitrogen recovery unit (NRU) and cryogenic gas processing equipment for ExxonMobil’s enhanced oil and gas recovery project in Hawkins, Texas, the US industrial gases major said on Tuesday.

The NRU would recover natural gas for pipeline sale and produce nitrogen for re-injection into a reservoir to enable enhanced oil and gas recovery, Air Products said

It would process about 140m standard cubic feet/day of gas and is expected to start up in 2011, Air Products said without disclosing financial terms.

“With global energy demand increasing, we believe that our technologies provide solutions for enhanced oil recovery projects,” said Tom Mutchler, general manager of worldwide equipment for Air Products.

In 2008, Air Products commissioned a large nitrogen injection facility in Mexico for enhanced oil recovery with joint venture partner CryoInfra.
