SAN FRANCISCO (ICIS news)--Buyers of specialty chemicals said on Tuesday they are looking for new strategic suppliers who can offer a unique value proposition and grow with the changing needs of their business as the economy shows signs of recovery.
“New supplier companies face a disadvantage with Dow AgroSciences versus suppliers that have existing years of relationship with the company,” said Bob Goosen, external manufacturing production leader at Dow AgroSciences.
“For a new supplier to break in with Dow AgoSciences, there needs to be something unique that they bring to the table, such as a technology or capability,” he added.

“We’re here looking for new suppliers. We are always listening for new capabilities and new combinations of capability,” said Michael Stadelmaier, a procurement manager at BASF.
“For us, technology is driving our need for toll manufacturers. We are looking for suppliers who can help us manufacture in the areas of adhesives, solvents and specialty monomers,” said Liza Lofton, a scale-up manager at Avery Dennison.
