SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan-based producer Mitsui Chemicals’ 617,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker in Ichihara, Chiba prefecture, is still off line from end-February due to technical problems, a company official said on Tuesday.
The company had tried to restart the cracker last weekend but without success, the official said, without providing further details.
The outage appeared to have had little impact on ethylene prices, which had fallen $50/tonne to $1,180-1,220/tonne (€861.4-890.6/tonne) CFR northeast (NE) Asia last week, according to data from ICIS pricing.
($1 = €0.73)
