HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A small overnight fire at a Motiva Group II base oil plant in Texas would not likely have a tremendous impact on US supply, a base oil trader said on Wednesday.
Motiva shut down the lube catalytic dewaxing unit at its Port Arthur refinery in Texas after a fire in a pump seal, the company said on Tuesday in a filing with state environmental regulators.
The 40,300 bbl/day Group II base oil plant is the largest Group II base oil plant in the world, the trader said.
In a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) the company said the fire was extinguished and excess gas flow was routed to the flare systems.
A company spokesman was not immediately available to comment on specific units at the refinery.
