TORONTO (ICIS news)--Brazil polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe producer Corr Plastik has started up a new plant at Maceio in the country’s Alagoas state, doubling its overall capacity, the German plastics machinery firm that supplied Corr said on Thursday.

Pipe production from five extrusion lines was phased in over past months and now stands at 3,100 tonnes/month, Munich-based plastics extrusion line supplier KraussMaffei said.

Combined with another plant at Cabreuva in Sao Paulo state, Corr’s PVC pipe capacity was now 6,000 tonnes/month, making it one of Brazil’s largest producers in that sector, KraussMaffei said without disclosing financial details.

KraussMaffei is a large global supplier of machinery and systems for plastics and rubber processing, including injection moulding and extrusion technology.
