MUMBAI (ICIS news)--India’s Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corp Ltd (DFPCL) plans to set up an integrated chemical complex in Australia, the company said late on Thursday.

The company had entered into non-binding commercial negotiations with Australian Explosive Techonologies Group (AET Group) to examine the possibility of setting up a complex in south Australia, DFPCL said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Pre-feasibility studies on the construction of the complex, comprising gas-based ammonia, nitric acid and technical ammonium nitrate plants were being carried out, the AET group said in a statement.

The project, which includes a low density ammonium nitrate prilling (LDAN) plant, was scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2013, the AET release said.

The project would have a phased production allowing for a final output of 350,000 tonnes/year of LDAN, AET added.
