LONDON (ICIS news)--LyondellBasell successfully restarted its 210,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant at Carrington in the UK on Friday after several failed attempts, a company source said.
The restart was delayed for 12 days following a planned, month-long maintenance shutdown.
LyondellBasell had already reported tight availability and product in the wider market was restricted, mainly due to the lack of propylene.
“We will lose some business this month due to our availability restrictions,” said the source, “but it is getting easier to increase prices as the market realises that product is tight.”
Homopolymer injection PP prices were reported within a wide range in Europe, with some regional differences, but net prices were now well above €1,100/tonne ($1,507/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest ?xml:namespace>
