NEW YORK (ICIS news)--The US trade group National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) has rebranded its responsible distribution process (RDP) as simply “Responsible Distribution", president Chris Jahn said on Tuesday.
The RDP was the NACD’s initiative focusing on continuous improvement in the areas of environment, health, safety, and security among chemical distributors. The NACD certifies compliance through third-party verification.
“Henceforth our program will now be called responsible distribution, with the goal of sharing what our members are doing with our stakeholders in the supplier community down the supply chain to our customers, as well as with regulators on Capitol Hill,” said Jahn in an interview with ICIS.
“We’ll call it what it is, which is responsible distribution,” he added.
The NACD’s new strategic plan, completed in February, focuses on three areas – promoting responsible distribution, increasing targeted advocacy efforts and boosting membership.
The rebranding and greater efforts to communicate what it does ties in with advocacy and membership, said Jahn.
“Responsible distribution gives our advocacy efforts credibility, and this also ties in with membership,” he said.
Along with chemical distributors, the NACD is targeting chemical manufacturers as well as chemical handlers (trucking and warehousing firms) and service providers, noted Jahn.
NACD currently has over 360 members and affiliates, including 245 chemical distributors, said Jahn.
