SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China-based Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fibre Co has shut down its 550,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant for scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

The plant, which was shut down on 15 March would be restarted in 12 days, the source said.

The company’s other 350,000 tonne/year PTA unit at the same site would operate normally during this period, he added.

“The supply to our customers will not be affected as we have already prepared enough cargoes in advance,” the source said.

Sinopec holds a controlling 42% stake in the company, which is located at Yizheng in eastern Jiangsu province.
