HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Huntsman’s Port Neches ethylene cracker in Texas will be off line for two weeks, market sources said on Friday, citing a disruption at the site earlier this week.

Huntsman did not respond to a request for comment, but the company on 18 March issued a statement reporting an outage in Port Neches without, however, specifying which unit was off line.

The shutdown followed a loss of steam at the site, which the company reported in a public filing on Monday.

Huntsman said it does not expect the disruption to impact downstream deliveries.

The company has 193,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity in Port Neches.

US ethylene for March traded this week at 67.00 cents/lb ($1,477/tonne. €1,078/tonne), down from 68.00 cents/lb a week earlier, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

($1 = €0.73)
