HOUSTON (ICIS news)--More price-increase initiatives for April US methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) surfaced during the week, sources said on Tuesday.

Proposed increases of 4-5 cents/lb ($88-110/tonne, €65-81/tonne) were announced by three more producers - Celanese at the low end of that range, and Eastman and Sasol at 5 cents/lb, following an identical announcement from Dow Chemical  early this month.

Sources on both sides of the market said the efforts were driven largely by pressure from raw materials.

February MIBK prices were 93-103 cents/lb, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing, but continued to settle up for March by about 5 cents/lb at the low end of the current range, while the range was said to be narrowing at the top of the range.

($1 = €0.74)
