CHENGDU (ICIS news)--Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui Chemicals (SSMC) plans to shut its 120,000 tonne/year bisphenol-A (BPA) facility in Caojing, China in June for a month-long maintenance shutdown, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The plant is currently running at full capacity in light of prevailing tight supply caused by ongoing  and upcoming turnarounds at regional plants, the source said on the sidelines of the 2010 Epoxy Resins & Raw Materials Forum in Chengdu.

The forum will end on 26 March.

SSMC is a 50:50 joint venture (JV) between Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals  and China’s largest petrochemical producer, Sinopec Corp.
