LONDON (ICIS news)--The April acetone methyl methacrylate (MMA) contract has been agreed at €821/tonne ($1,095/tonne), up €56/tonne from March, a major contract buyer and seller confirmed on Wednesday.
“I can confirm to have discussed €821/tonne as the European net price for April. It is not what the downstream markets need at this stage but as the European markets seems to be tight on acetone, I had to swallow the bitter pill,” the buyer said.
The buyer added that the downstream MMA market was perceived to be strong but he attributed this to methacrylate supply issues rather than a real pick up in the coatings and automotive industry.
In relation to the April contract price at €821/tonne, the major producer said: "Yes I can confirm it."
