China’s Luxi Chem starts up dichloromethane, methylamine units

GUANGZHOU (ICIS news)--China's Luxi Chemical started up its new dichloromethane and methylamine units at Liaocheng in Shandong province and achieved on-spec products in late March, the fertilizer producer said on Thursday.
The facilities can produce 60,000 tonnes/year of dichloromethane and 100,000 tonnes/year of methylamine, the company said in a disclosure to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
The capacities would be doubled in the second phase of the construction, which would start at the end of April and complete by early 2011, a company source said.
Luxi Chemical proposed to sell half the plants' output in domestic spot markets and keep the rest for captive use, the source added.
