DOHA (ICIS News)--Qatar Melamine Co expects to start up its 60,000 tonne/year melamine plant in Mesaieed by the end of the second quarter, a company source said on Thursday.

"We expect to begin exporting melamine from the plant in the third quarter," the source said.

The company's major export markets would be the Asia Pacific, Europe, the US, Turkey and Russia, he said.

"Demand is very good and supply from China is quite erratic," he added.

The company is a 60:40 joint venture between Qatar Fertilizer Co (Qafco) and Qatar Intermediate Industries Holding Co.
