LONDON (ICIS news)--Production of chemicals and man-made fibres in the EU increased by 15.0% year on year in February, while total industrial output rose by 3.5%, official statistics agency Eurostat said on Thursday.
In the 16-member eurozone, chemicals production rose by 19.2% in February compared to the same month in 2009, while total industrial production increased 4.1%.
Month on month, the production of chemicals was up 3.2% in the 27-member EU in February, while production in the eurozone showed a rise of 4.8% compared with January 2010.
Total industrial production has shown signs of improvement with an increase of 0.7% in the EU for February compared with January 2010, while the eurozone recorded a rise of 0.9% compared to the month before.
