CRUDE: May WTI 81.74/bbl, down $1.50/bbl; June BRENT $84.79/bbl, down $1.27
NYMEX crude futures shed $1.50 to fall below $82/bbl on Monday as market sentiment was dampened by fraud charges hurled by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Goldman Sachs. The charges were related to the marketing of the investment bank's subprime mortgage products. Risk appetite turned sour on the news, dragging down Asian equities on Monday.
NAPHTHA: First-half June open-spec naphtha tumbled to $753.50-756.50/tonne CFR (cost and freight) Japan on Monday, down $8.50-9.50/tonne from Friday as US crude fell below $82/bbl. Second-half June was valued at $744.50-747.50/tonne CFR
BENZENE: Prices fell to $990-1,000/tonne FOB (free on board)
TOLUENE: Limited discussions were heard on Monday with prices notionally pegged unchanged at $900-910/tonne FOB
