SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--DSM Engineering Plastics will take over Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation’s (MCC) polyamide business by early June this year, a senior DSM executive said on Tuesday.

The aquisition was part of an agreement which enables DSM to acquire MCC’s polyamide business in exchange for its polycarbonate business, said Dan Bishop.

"We’ll take over the polyamide business in early June," said Bishop, DSM Engineering Plastics’ marketing director for Asia Pacific compounds.

Bishop was speaking at a press event at the Chinaplas exhibition which runs 19-22 April in Shanghai.

The transaction was subject to various external approvals and would be finalised once the approval process was completed, he added.

The intended swap would broaden DSM's portfolio and enable the company to strengthen service and innovation capabilities it offers to the automotive industry, the electrical market and the flexible packaging sector in Europe, the US and Asia, particularly Japan and China, said Bishop.
