SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Mab Ta Phut Olefins Company is currently running its 900,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker in Thailand at 60-70% of capacity, having started up its metathesis unit in first half April, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The facility, a joint venture between Thailand’s largest conglomerate Siam Cement Group (SCG) and US major Dow Chemical, was initially started up last month.

The metathesis unit can produce around 300,000 tonnes/year of propylene.

The source declined to comment on the operating rate but said it was running below full rates.
