HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US propylene inventories rose by 12% in the week ended 16 April, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday, as it reported a continued increase in refinery operating rates.

Refinery-sourced propylene stockpiles last week stood at 2.773m bbl, up from 2.470m bbl in the week ended 9 April, the EIA said.

The weekly increase came amid higher operating rates at US refineries.

Refineries ran at 85.9% last week, up from low point of 78.4% in the second week of January, according to EIA data.

Non-fuel use propylene, as defined by the EIA, is intended for petrochemical manufacturing, including polymer and chemical-grade propylene.
