SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Qatar Fuel Additives' (Qafac's) 835,000 tonne/year natural gas-based methanol facility in Mesaieed is currently undergoing maintenance turnaround and will be restarted in early June, a source close to the company said on Monday.
The plant was taken off line on 15 April for a 45-day turnaround, the source said.
Qafac is owned 50% by Industries Qatar (IQ), 20% by Chinese Petroleum Corporation (CPC), 15 % each by Lee Chang Yung Chemical Industry Corporation (LCYCIC) and International Octane Limited.
Other major regional methanol producers include Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), Oman Methanol Company LLC, and ?xml:namespace>
The three largest derivatives of methanol are formaldehyde, methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) and acetic acid.
