SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan's Nippon Seiro shut down its 90,000 tonne/year petroleum wax unit in Tokuyama, Yamaguchi province on Monday for annual maintenance, a company official said.

The plant would be off line for a month up to 31 May, the official said.

The plant's wax capacity refers to the total production of paraffin, microcrystalline and other special types of waxes.

The maintenance shutdown at the plant would not affect supply to export customers in Asia and the United States, the official said.

Paraffin wax prices in the key China market were up $10/tonne (€7.5/tonne ) at $1,620-1,650/tonne FOB (free on board) China for the benchmark fully-refined grade of melting point 58/60ºC last week, according to global chemical market intelligence service, ICIS pricing.

Other regional producers include PetroChina and Taiwan Wax Co.
