Petrobras said it will invest $240m in the 250,000 tonne/year plant while its partners provide the remainder, the company said. Petrobras and Galp announced their interest in the joint venture in 2007.
The companies expect production to start in 2015. Petrobras will provide 300,000 tonnes/year of palm oil as feedstock, while the finished fuel will supply the European market, Petrobras said in a statement.
