Malaysia’s Petlin to restart LDPE plant next week

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Petlin is expected to restart its 255,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Kerteh, in eastern Malaysia, early next week, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The plant was shut in the middle of last week due to technical issues, the source said.

The plant shutdown was unlikely to have any impact on the market due to its short duration, local buyers said.

Malaysia’s only other LDPE producer, Titan Chemicals, operates a 220,000 tonne/year plant in Johor, southern Malaysia.
