LONDON (ICIS news)--Qatar Melamine Co has started to produce melamine at its 60,000 tonne/year plant in the city of Mesaieed, Qatar, a company source confirmed on Thursday.
Yousef al-Kuwari, a marketing manager at Qatar Fertiliser Co (QAFCO), said in a statement: “With great pleasure we announce that the first melamine ever produced in QAFCO and ?xml:namespace>
Qatar Melamine Co is a 60:40 joint venture between QAFCO and Qatar Intermediate Industries Holding Co.
The company intends to market the melamine to Europe, Asia and eventually the
Qatar Melamine plans to have long-term contracts and will also be supplying the spot market, the statement added.
Reacting to news of the first production of melamine from the plant, a trader said: “We will see a lot of changes in supply.”
